It’s been a while between client feature’s and we are excited to bring you this one to kick off 2023 as it should get your taste buds drooling!
Empire is pleased to introduce to you, Ben from Benz on Miller and Benz Burger Trucks. You may be familiar with Ben and his burger as he was voted best burgers in Brisbane by the Courier Mail back in 2020. Ben started his business from Miller Street (yes the same place our previous office was) and has expanded to have 2 trucks on the road bringing his famous burgers to all over Brisbane.

Q. Tell us about your business!
We are a burger shop based in Murarrie with two roaming food trucks. We were voted best burgers in Brisbane 2020 by the Courier mail. We pride ourselves on handmade quality food. We make all our patties, pickles, sauces and fried chicken. We believe you can taste the difference, hence our slogan “You be the judge”.
Q. How and when did you get started?
We started near 8 years ago taking over a struggling take away shop with the vision of being a corporate café. We evolved into a burger shop by the demand of our burgers. The café menu shrunk and the burger menu grew!
Q. What is the best way for our readers to find you and “be the judge” of your burgers?

We can cater for all events from corporate team building functions, weddings, wakes and private parties. No more sausage sizzles!!
Q. Straight from the creators mouth, what’s your favourite burger?
Sweet Baby Jeebus all day. Wild Turkey/Maple glazed fried chicken with bacon, cheese, lettuce and franks mayo! Been called Brisbanes best fried chicken multiple times.
Q. When did you start using Empire for your business accounting and what differences have you noticed since working together?
The benefit of using Empire for me has been the guidance. I approached them after finding I was just a number at my previous accountant. It was my first business, and I recieved no guidance or advice, this contributed towards a bad business model.
Since coming across I’ve changed completely the way I operate. I have a clearer vision and there’s more money in the bank. My grow in the last 12 months has far exceeded my dreams and I actually like my business again.
Q. Starting a small business can be challenging in today’s market. What is one thing you feel was a challenge for you and how did you overcome that?
Having the right formula. Keeping cash in the bank as so many unexpected costs arise. Empire challenged me to ensure a % daily takings and PAYG are put away to make my BAS payments a better experience. They implemented DEXT to help with my bookkeeping and it enabled me to recoup all my GST that my previous bookkeeper was missing out on. They also encouraged me to use deputy (rostering portal) this helped with budgeting staff hours. My time now is so much better utilised, with all those integrations there has been an additional cost but I feel its been an investment that’s paying off.
