Our client feature this quarter is the lovely Lori from Friends with Fur. Empire Accountants
assisted Lori in the initial stages of her business with her company structure set up and have since been working together over the last
few months, assisting with compliance requirements and watching her business grow.
We sat down with Lori and this is what we learnt about Friends with Fur…
Q. Tell us about your business! What do you specialise in?
A. Friends with Fur offers pet grooming and doggy dare care in our boutique space in Cannon Hill, Brisbane Southside.
Q. How and did Friends with Fur start?
A. I had been dreaming and planning to open my own salon for 4 years. I wanted to create a professional grooming salon for people who want their pets looking and feeling great!
Q. What makes your business different from other dog grooming salons in the area?
A. We don’t keep your pets locked in a cage all day, we allow the puppies to run free before and after grooming, getting plenty of attention. We also specialise in cat grooming which not many grooming salons offer.
Q. Starting a small business can be challenging in today’s market. What is one thing you feel was a challenge for you and how did you overcome that?
A. The main challenge I had when starting was the amount of advice given with regards to advertising my business via Google, I have learnt the hard way and paid a lot of money on products that didn’t deliver on purpose, I learnt quickly to go with recommendations when it comes to Google and online marketing.
Q. When did you start using Empire Accountants and what difference have you noticed since working together?
A. I only started with Empire Accountants to help set up my business model, I have only worked with Luke for the past 5 months, however what I do know is they care about the success of your business.
Q. If you were to recommend The Empire to a friend, what would you say?
A. Not your typical Accounting firm that you hear about. Professional, easy to understand when discussing finance.
Q. What service can you offer to our readers?
We offer day care during the week to help with our customers busy schedule’s, where their dogs can be free to socialise and play during their pampering session.
Q. Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to start a business in Brisbane?
A. Believe in your passion and vision and take the risk, I have not looked back from the day of opening!
